The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) has wielded the big stick against the governors of Imo and Ogun states, Rochas Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosun, by suspending them over anti-party activities.

The national leadership merely ratified the suspension of the duo during the NWC meeting at the party’s secretariat following the earlier pronouncement by the states party’s working committee earlier this year over their supports for governorship candidates on the platform of other political parties.

Confirming the suspension which was equally clamped on the Minister of Niger Delta, Usani, Usani Uguru, and the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu and the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mallam Lanre Isaa-Onilu, said that official statement would soon be made available.

“I can confirm to you that the suspension is true. A statement is in the works,” he said.

Governors Amosun and Okorocha were both elected senators on the platform of APC in last weekend’s National Assembly elections, but they are backing different candidates for the March 9 governorship election on another party’s platforms instead of their party, APC.
