Taraba State governor and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Darius Ishaku has won last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

Governor Ishaku polled a total of five hundred and twenty thousand, four hundred and thirty two (520,432) votes to beat his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi, who polled a total of Three hundred and sixty two thousand, seven hundred and thirty five (362,735) votes.

State collation Officer Prof Shehu Manu, who declared the results at the INEC head office in Jalingo on Tuesday morning, said that the governor, “haven polled the highest number of votes and also satisfied other requirements by the law, has been declared winner of the governorship election held in Taraba state on the 9th of March, 2019, and is hereby returned electe.”

The governor won twelve put of the sixteen local government areas in the state, with a victory margin of one hundred and fifty seven thousand, six hundred and ninety seven. (157,697), to secure his second tenure.
