Heavy fighting has erupted in some parts of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. The explosions which started at about 5:45 pm and continued till the period of filing this report were heard around Fori general area near Giwa military barracks.

Residents around the troubled areas were seen fleeing the areas, as soldiers were spotted move in to check the insurgents.
