Death has once again hit the Nigerian football family as Henrietta Ukaigwe, a  renowned women football administrator, has died.

Ukaigwe, died after a brief illness at the Ikeja General Hospital at about 10: 20 am Tuesday July 14, 2020.
According to the media officer of Heartland Queens of Owerri, Humphrey Njoku, the late Ukaigwe was admitted at the Ikeja General Hospital five days ago for Ulcer complications.
Henrietta played an invaluable role in the growth and popularity of women football in Nigeria.
She started Female Football Interest Group FGIG and championed the cause of women’s football development and growth in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased former Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN ), Lagos State Chapter, treasurer, will be conveyed to her home town , Nwangele Local government area in Imo state today.

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) lamented the death of the female football administrator saying “The death of Henrietta Ukaigwe is a devastating blow to the game of women’s football in Nigeria.

NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, said in Abuja that, “We are still in rude shock at her premature departure, but we collectively take solace in the fact that she left her formidable footprints in the sands of time. We pray that God will give her eternal rest and also grant those she has left behind the fortitude to bear the big loss,”
