Reports reaching Daily Sun online says the convener of the BringBackOurGirls group, Oby Ezekwesili, has been arrested by the police.

As at time of filing this report, no reason had been adduced for his arrest.

In series of posts on her Twitter handle, @obyezeks, the former Minister of Education said she was arrested alongside some members of the BBOG group.

In a series of tweets on her handle, the wrote “I have been ARRESTED along with rest of our BBOG members and NOW DETAINED without a charge by the . . WE are detained at the FCT command . The Police here has REFUSED to tell us why we are DETAINED. ”

“The FG of President . instructed the IG of to DETAIN ME AND OTHER MEMBERS of here at the Unity Fountain. Police men and women have BUILT AN IMPREGNABLE WALL and LOCKED ME IN. I have asked them more than 30 times to LET ME OUT and they REFUSED.”

“President . members of our BBOG Movement HAVE BEEN ARRESTED BY OUR IG of . . WE ARE ALL WAITING TO BE ARRESTED SINCE it has become an OFFENSE to DEMAND THAT YOU KEEP YOUR PROMISE TO RESCUE ALL OUR CHIBOKGIRLS.”

But in a swift reaction, the Police Force Headquarters, in Abuja, have denied arresting the Convener and leader of the Bring Back Our Girls(BBOG) group, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili.

Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, who made this known in a telephone interview with some journalists, said she was only taken into custody for her safety.

Jimoh, who said there was a police standing order restricting illegal gathering and protest by any group, said Ezekwesili and some members of the BBOG, were taken into custody for questioning.

He, however, did not say whether or not they are going to be detained and charged to court.
