Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday, commissioned major projects executed by the Governor Darius Ishaku in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Osinbajo, who was received on arrival by the state governor Arch Darius Ishaku and top government functionaries,  commissioned the Multi Billion Naira Green House, Jalingo Primary  Water Supply project, and the 6.5 Kilometres Jalingo-Kona road project executed by Gov Ishaku.

He said that he was deeply impressed with the level of development in the state especially in agriculture and was “wowed by the agricultural potentials of the state”.

He promised that the Federal government would partner with the state government in exploring special agricultural initiatives of the government that are beneficial to Nigerians especially rice, vegetables, tea and cocoa production and processing.

Osinbajo emphasized that agriculture was the only way forward for Nigeria and called on the people to remain relentless as the federal government was completely behind them to give them the support they needed.

Earlier, Governor Ishaku said that the state could confidently feed the entire nation with rice, tea, and vegetables if his administration was given the needed assistance from the federal government, and save the nation from wasting several Billion dollars annually on importation of these produce.

Ishaku said that the state was not only looking at supplying agricultural needs of Nigeria but to proving export alternative for Forex earning for the nation.

He said that the water project would drastically reduce the cases of water born decease and provide jobs to thousands of youths in the state and appealed to the Vice President to fast-track the refund of over N3 trillion owed the state by Federal Government that was expended on construction of Federal roads in the state by the state government.
