The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) has admonished Nigerians to stop the current bloodletting in parts of the country.

Spokesman of BCS, Amah Williams, said the happenings were inconsistent with God’s design for the nation.

Williams, who addressed journalists in Enugu, on the forthcoming celebration of the divine manifestation of the founder/sustainer of BCS, Olumba Olumba Obu, said it was time for humanity to show spirit of love and empathy.

He disclosed that activities marking the annual event would be flagged off on Monday, with the grand finale holding at the BCS world headquarters in Calabar, Cross River State, on Friday, December 30.

According to Williams, the Holy Father had declared December 27, World Charity Day.

He said it would entail visits to correctional centres and IDP camps in parts of the country while individuals were encouraged to give out alms.

Explaining the essence of the five-day celebration, he said: “The essence of the Brotherhood of Cross and Star is to carry others’ cross or burden. If it were in Abuja where there are IDPs, we’ll visit the camps. But, here, we would be visiting orphanages, destitute homes and the like.

“Leader Olumba Olumba Obu is urging humanity to imbibe charity. This is the time for humanity to stop killings. We have to show love and empathy to one another.”

He added that the 4th edition of the Leader Olumba Olumba Obu public lecture on the theme: “Unification of the human race –the uncharted path to lasting peace,” would also signpost the celebration in Calabar.
