PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, has declared that the present administration is determined to diversify the Nigerian economy with emphasis on the entertainment sector.

Adesina made this declaration during the maid- en edition of Daylight Annual Leadership Awards (DALA), held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, last Sunday where he was honoured with the Most Outstanding Media Personality of the Year award.

“We know that this administration is determined to diversify the nation’s economy. We have paid lip service to diversification for decades but this administration is determined to do it during its lifespan.

“The president has always mentioned agriculture and solid minerals, and the third one is entertainment. Somebody told me that the industry is a trillion naira industry, and if it is that big, then it is something Nigeria can use. So, definitely, the administration is going to collaborate with stake holders to ensure that the entertainment industry is given the pride of place it deserves, so that it could be a big revenue earner for Nigeria.”

On how he felt about his award, Adesina said: “I am very delighted with the award. I have been out of jour- nalism for about one year and the fact that I am still remembered and considered fit to receive this award is quite gratifying. It means a lot to me. I am dedicating the award to God Almighty and my family.”
