President Muhammadu Buhari has condoled with the family of former president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chief Olutoyin Olusola Olakunri, who died on Sunday.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in a statement, said Buhari also commiserated with ICAN and all the professional colleagues of the brilliant accountant and entrepreneur, who served the country in many capacities, providing visionary leadership and invaluable counsel to governments.

He expressed the believe that Olakunri lived her life in service of God and humanity, and commended her leading role in encouraging women to study and acquire skills, pursue professional careers and start generational businesses that can support their families, employ people and further strengthen the society.
Meanwhile, Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, yesterday expressed her sadness over the death of the ICAN president.

Adeosun described Olakunri, who was the first female chartered accountant in sub-Saharan Africa and served for over a decade as chairman of the Society of Women Accountants in Nigeria (SWAN), as a professional mother and cherished mentor who impacted positively on a generation of women chartered accountants.
The minister said the former ICAN president supported women to realise their potentials in the field of accountancy.

She commiserated with the entire Olakunri family and prayed that God grants them the fortitude to bear the loss.
