President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadny over the death of Abdulhamid Babatunde, a famous journalist and writer who served as editor of several newspaper titles including the defunct, Kaduna-based Democrat.

In a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, he is quoted as saying: “Abdulhamid Babatunde was a distinguished writer and journalist. He contributed extensively to our elections in 2015 and 2019. He worked to strengthen the journalism profession as an eminent writer and unionist. Always full of energy and ideas, passionate about Nigeria’s development, he will be missed by so many people.

“His demise leaves a huge void in the media. May Allah repose his soul and grant fortitude to his family and friends to bear the loss,” Buhari said.
