President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) to revolutionise farming and food processing  in the country.

This is as he tasked  the agency to utilise the machines  it has developed in the food value to improve living condition  of  Nigerians.

Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI,  Prof. Mohammed Haruna  disclosed the president’s directive, yesterday, in Lafia during the ground breaking of Agricultural Machinery and Development Institute (AMEDI) in Lafia.

He said the new institute would collaborate with Technology Agency of Czech Republic.

“NASENI has succeeded in the development of relevant equipment of machines in the food value chain from cultivation, planting, weeding, harvesting, post harvesting and food preservation. This institute is mandated to build on these services and serve as a pilot site for the implementation of agreement on agriculture between Nigeria and Czech Republic.”

Haruna explained that  NASENI will intervene in  cultivation to planting, weeding, harvesting, post-harvesting and food preservation.

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, commended the Federal Government for the establishment of AMEDI in Lafia.

“I am happy to state that NASENI has also set up the North Central Skill Development Centre in Keffi Local GovernmentArea of the state.”
