Ahead of the gubernatorial and state House of Assembly elections on Saturday, President Muhammadu Buhari and security chiefs are currently meeting at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

The meeting which started by 11: am, according to a presidential source was convened to review the country’s security situation.

The National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno; Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan- Ali, and Minister of Interior, General Abdulrahaman Dambazau are in attendance.

Also in attendance are the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Abubakar Sadique who arrived the presidential villa, Abuja, around 10:50 am.

The Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar, acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and the  Director-General of the Department for State Service (DSS), Yusuf, Magaji Bichi, are also in attendance.

The security chiefs last met on February 19, five days before the presidential and National Assembly elections, where the acting Inspector-General of Police,  Adamu reiterated the president’s directives that anyone involved ballot-box snatching and electoral misconducts would be punished.
