From Juliana Taiwo-Obalonye, Abuja
President Muhammadu Buhari has described the request for the unconditional release of leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, currently standing trial, as a difficult and heavy one. But he assured that he would consider it. Buhari gave the assurance when he received a group under the aegis of Highly Respected Igbo Greats, led by First Republic parliamentarian and Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, at State House, Abuja.
According to a statement by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari stressed that the request runs contrary to the doctrine of separation of powers between the Executive and Judiciary.
The President told the 93-year-old statesman: “You’ve made an extremely difficult demand on me as leader of this country. The implication of your request is very serious. In the last six years, since I became President, nobody would say I have confronted or interfered in the work of the judiciary. God has spared you, and given you a clear head at this age, with very sharp memory. A lot of people half your age are confused already. But the demand you made is heavy. I will consider it.”
Stressing his policy of non-interference with the judiciary, President Buhari said when Kanu jumped bail, got arrested and brought back to the country, “I said the best thing was to subject him to the system. Let him make his case in court, instead of giving very negative impressions of the country from outside. I feel it’s even a favour to give him that opportunity.”
The President condoled with Chief Amaechi, who recently buried his wife, praying that her soul would rest in peace. The nonagenarian had described the situation in the South-East as “painful and pathetic,” lamenting that businesses have collapsed, education is crumbling, and there is fear everywhere.
He pleaded for a political, rather than military solution, requesting that if Kanu was released to him as the only First Republic Minister still alive, “he would no longer say the things he had been saying,” stressing that he could control him, “not because I have anything to do with them (IPOB), but I am highly respected in Igbo land today.”
Amaechi said twice he had interfaced with Nnamdi Kanu in the past, and the latter rescinded orders earlier given on civil disobedience.
He concluded: “I don’t want to leave this planet without peace returning to my country. I believe in one big, united Nigeria, a force in Africa. Mr President, I want you to be remembered as a person who saw Nigeria burning, and you quenched the fire.”
Other people in the visiting delegation were Chukwuemeka Ezeife, former Governor of Anambra State, Bishop Sunday Onuoha of the Methodist Church, Chief Goddy Uwazurike, former President of Igbo socio-cultural group, Aka Ikenga, and Mr Tagbo Mbazulike Amaechi.
Buhari is dead and buried in Saudi Arabia since January 2017. PDP delegation led by Umahi were among the criminals which connived in London for the irrelevant tout nickname Buhari.
The club of criminals nickname Ohaneze are generation of failures, complicit and collaborators of fulani terrorists from Guinea to keep Igbos under fulani rulership and must go down with defeated fulani caliphate called Nigeria.
The majority Igbos which stand for Biafra Republic of south east are Igbo leaders.
Kanu is Ipob affairs. It has nothing to do with the majority Igbos which stand for Biafra Republic of south east, it has nothing to do with Biafra Republic of south east. Kanu and his fraudulent Ipob group said their engagement is secession without war in which former eastern region is Biafra Republic. Our engagement as majority Igbos is Disintegration with War in which Biafra Republic of south east is one of the six sovereign states.
God in heaven the owner of the world and everything in it, have given we Igbos Biafra Republic of south east within Disintegrated Republics of this territory natives. It is Unavoidable Necessity to defend our God given Biafra Republic of south east with whatever it takes. Every Igbo man or woman who stand for Biafra Republic of south east must be fully armed now. Only the Sword decides.
@Ezekiel Okeke
“GOD in heaven the Owner of the world” Your approach to general situations of Nigeria and Biafra in particular confirmed that You neither know GOD nor know what heaven stand for as well for unwisely failure to respected IGBO Elders on their Democratic mediation to ensure peace and progress in south east region confirmed that You are neither an IGBO nor True African in this regard therefore If BIAFRA is achieved the BABYLONIAN mentality that enslaved the IGBOS among themselves would turned them to fight themselves so then Who will come to their help? Is it GOD or Nigeria?
MR.THE NOON, your above rejoinder to Chief Ezekiel Okeke’s rantings is
simply full of sounds and furies without any coherence.
Why is the mere mention of Biafra, gives you Nigerians some acute
stomach aches and migraine attacks?
There is absolutely nothing illegal about the ongoing agitations by both the IPOB and MASSOB for the Self-Determintion of Ndigbo and thus, the
restoration of our Sovereign Christian Republic of Biafra.
We Igbos are Christians and thus, we shouldn’t belong to a Nigeria, which is
an OIC, C8 and C15 Member State, dominated and governed currently by the barbaric, bellicose and murderous Fulani cattle driver alliens and indeed
under Sharia-jurisprudence.
Nigeria We Hail Thee.Lol!
All Hail Biafra, our God’s Own Land of the Rising Sun!!
