Ebonyi State Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Chief Charles Akpu-Enika, on Monday, said that Governor David Umahi has no intention to dump the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the Federal Government-controlled All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said that the governor’s visible cordial relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari has nothing to do with the governor joining the APC. Rather, he said that the criticisms by the opposition elements in the state was a sign of jittery and jealousy.

In a press conference held, in Abakaliki, Akpu-Enika said that he chose to address the media because of a recent publication in some national dailies against the governor after the President’s visit to the state.

“Those parading as opposition politicians have continued to labour in vain trying to pitch the governor against his kinsman, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu without knowing that these men know better than them,” he said.

Akpu-Enika also explained that the defection of the immediate past governor, Chief Martin Elechi to the APC was a relief to the PDP.

He continued, “Even as everyone is entitled to choice of political party, the hateful kind of opposition by a few persons in the state is undeserving of a government that has done so much for its people and none indigenes in the state. In the past it was unimaginable, almost a taboo appointing Hausa man Technical Assistant to the Governor in Ebonyi. Today a Hausa man is Technical Adviser to Ebonyi State Governor.

“And the government has many other demonstrations of commitment to development in a sustainable manner, more so the business environment has been highly improved”, he stated.
