Seasoned Nollywood actress and Yoruba movie producer, Bukky Wright is not only an entertainer but also a successful businesswoman. The charming and elegant actress who also is really proud of her religion is on the top of her game as a prolific and desirable actress. Recently, she spoke about herself, her new movie and recording label at an event in Lagos. Excerpts:

What fashion accessories can’t you do without?
Right now as a praying Muslim, my cap comes first, then, my jewelry.

Do you prefer statement jewelry or gold?
For some reasons including   being in Nollywood, I think the event determines what I wear but I love gold and beads too. My shoes and bag are also important.

What’s your beauty regimen?
When I tell people my little beauty secrets they sometimes don’t believe me. They think it’s all a joke. But to be candid my body cream is simply Shea butter, what is commonly called ori. It’s so funny.
A lot of people find it very difficult to believe, but my major beauty routine is my Shea butter.

We learnt you are a grandmother and you’re still this ageless, what’s the secret?
That grand mum thing people are talking about, yes, I’m a grand mum but not biologically. At the same time, I remain very grateful to God for my youthfulness.
My first son is 24 and I think it’s just the grace of God.
If I say there’s anything I have been doing in particular, I will only be deceiving myself.
I see a lot of older people like Arabel, (Sherifah Andu), Magistrate Memunat Folami, Mrs Muraino, and Shade Alesh and when you see these people, you will know what I mean.
They still look trendy and these are people I always look up to. I’m very careful with what I apply on my skin and what I eat. I exercise and I try to rest at any opportunity.

Could you elaborate on your diet?
Those days, I loved cold eba and vegetable soup but for some reasons I had to drop it because of my health. It’s not very healthy. Right now, my favourite food is oatmeal. You can make it into porridge and you can make it a swallow; it’s very good to eat with soup and healthy.

You were quite picky about the roles you played, are you still that way?
I believe when you get to a certain stage in a particular industry, there are some jobs or roles you don’t want your name to be associated with, so I’m very careful about the movies I appear in and especially the script I take.

I’m working on a couple of projects now.

We shot one in the US and it’s all US crew i.e. Nigerians in the US. I felt it’s better to shoot with the American crew than taking artistes and all the crew from Nigeria.
It only makes a lot of business sense for me to employ people in the states to work for me and we ended up doing a fantastic movie.

What’s the movie about?
It’s a movie about women. I’ll just tell people to keep their fingers crossed. It’s titled, ‘The beast among us.’
Who is the beast? Is it the men among the women? Or the women among the men? It’s the story of a couple who struggled  to salvage their relationship.
The wife accused the husband of his inability to satisfy her in some respects.
Then the husband goes ahead and accuses the wife of being unfaithful, an allegation she denies until the truth was revealed. And things turned around.

Have you ever been part of a scandal in the industry?
I have been very careful. Somehow, in this industry, it’s not easy for to stay scandal-free, because we are all humans and blood flows in our veins. But at the same time, I have been very careful and God has been by my side.

Are you careful on social media too?
Yes. I’m very careful about what I post on social media.
I post what is needed to be posted and not frivolities. What I don’t have to post I don’t post, especially if it has to do with my private life.
It’s my private life and I believe my private life should remain private.

Do you believe in love?
That happens to be my private life and my personal business, which I would like to keep to myself.
But there’s nothing wrong with you being in love with the right person. Love is a beautiful thing.

Where do you like to unwind or go on holidays?
Anywhere comfortable, relaxing and motivating. It could be anywhere; I don’t care as far as it has these three things that I have listed.
