BY PAUL EREWUBA

FORMER Enyimba of Aba player, Victor Ezeji, has advised the People’s Elephant to intensify preparation for the group stage of the CAF Champions League to enable them achieve their goal.

Enyimba qualified for the money-spinning group stage after beating Etoile du Sahel 4-3 on penalties, at the Stade Olympique de Sousse last week Wednesday.

The two-time winners of the competition, will now join ES Setif, AS Vita Club, Al Ahly, Zamalek, ASEC Mimosas, Wydad Casablanca and ZESCO United for the draws on May 24.

Ezeji, a member of the Enyimba squad that won the cup in 2003 and  2004 believed the present squad has what it takes to re-enact the 2004 episode, but warned that adequate preparation is key.

“I have seen Enyimba play. They have a formidable squad. They have  a rich bench but they have to intensify preparation for the group stage because it is going to be tougher. In all, I believe Enyimba will win the trophy only if they do the things that they are supposed to do.”
