London based Nigerian soccer buff, Tunde Adelakun believes African football would enjoy a new lease of life with the emergence of Ahmad Ahmad as the new president of Confederation of African Football ( CAF).

Adelakun who expressed joy over the way the CAF election went in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia said he is confident the new leaders of CAF would take the round leather game to the next level in the continent.

“March 16 is an absolutely momentous day in the history of football in Africa. Every situation benefits from change. And I believe Africa will be the better for it,” were the words of Adelakun moments after the election.

On Amaju Pinnick, Adelakun who is the Executive Vice President of New African Soccer Magazine urged football stakeholders in the country to rally round him in the interest of the country.

“One may not like Pinnick as a person, but one thing nobody can take away from him is his passion for football and his desire to raise the standard of the game in Nigeria. So, my appeal is for every stakeholder to support him in the interest of the country.

“We should stop playing politics with Nigerian football. Pinnick is in charge today and anybody who truly loves the country must support him to succeed. I m happy he is in the CAF executive committee. It is a development that would impact positively on Nigerian football,” Adelakun said.
