Insists Nigeria deserves executive committee seat

The nation’s soccer governing body, NFF yesterday re echoed her support for Amaju Pinnick, the youthful president of the soccer federation, who is vying for a place on the executive board of Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The NFF board in a release made available to the media yesterday urged Pinnick to not only throng on but ensure that whoever emerges the new CAF president after the election billed for next month in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is a person that would best protect the nation’s soccer interest.

The NFF statement which was signed by the chairman of the Media Committee, Yahaya Kwande stated in part. “We have charged Pinnick to use his discretion and vote for that candidate who will best serve Nigeria’s interest during the election. This support was given based on the fact that as the NFF President and a member of the CAF Organizing Committee for the Africa Cup of Nations he is fully in tune with the political play at that level and knows what would be best for Nigeria.”

The NFF further stated: “The Board spent good time discussing the CAF elections and the importance of Nigeria having someone on the CAF Executive Committee, considering the huge role that our nation has always been playing in peace –keeping and sundry noble programs on the continent.”
