From Priscilla Ediare, Ado Ekiti

The Atiku Mobilisers Ekiti (TAME), a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) group working for the actualisation of the victory of the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has urged Nigerians not to be deceived by the impeachment process against President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the call to impeach the President might be a game plan.

The group said making such a call when Buhari’s administration will end in less than a year was behind time and unnecessary advising Nigerians to exercise patience but come out en masse in next year’s election and use their votes to send the All Progressives Congress (APC) parking.

Expressing confidence, the group said Atiku will score over 60 per cent of the votes cast in Ekiti State in the 2023 elections, citing President Buhari’s poor performance and his failure in tackling insecurity as some of the reasons the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has become unsellable to Nigerians.

Dr Sikiru Tae Lawal, the group’s chairman and former deputy governor in the state, made the statements during the meeting of the TAME’s Local government Coordinators, in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Lawal pleaded with all the PDP groups to come together and work for the actualisation of Atiku’s presidency.

The former deputy governor said Atiku is well equipped to lead Nigeria and liberate Nigerians from the untold hardship caused to them by the APC- led government.

“Nobody is happy with the current situation. Is it about youth unemployment, inflation, inability to buy ordinary bread, petrol and diesel? Am sure that even the APC and LP members will vote for Atiku in this coming election.

“To us in this group, we are urging Nigerians to wait and vote the APC out, rather than impeachment process against the President, because the impeachment kite might be a game plan.”

Attributing the party’s poor performance recorded in the July 18 governorship election in the state to poor preparation, Lawal said, the PDP will close ranks and work hard this time to galvanise support for Atiku across the state and ensure that the party wins the Ekiti election for the presidency.

“We have coordinators in all the 177 wards and we will soon appoint the coordinators across 2445 units to galvanise support for our candidate. We did poorly in the governorship election in Ekiti because the PDP preparation was poor. But we are going to win Ekiti’s election for the presidency.

“We have realised our mistakes and the result was a result of internal wranglings. We are working hard at the unit and ward levels. We will salvage the situation.

“There is no party without rancour, we are going to come together. The unemployment, insecurity and the bad state of the economy have made Asiwaju Tinubu unsellable to Nigerians.

“We are going to change the change because the APC change has brought hardship and bloodshed to Nigerians. PDP is targeting 60 per cent of the votes cast in Ekiti because the Nigerian citizens are tired of the APC-led government and they are ready to vote them out.”

The former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Kola Oluwawole, who also spoke said the group will harness the human resources available in Ekiti PDP and other parties to mobilise for Atiku across the 2,445 units, and the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
