After a thrilling encounter in Franceville yesterday, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon qualified for the semifinals of the Africa Cup of Nations after beating Senegal 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out.
Both teams lost several scoring chances to end the regulation time goalless. Not even the extra 30 minutes produced a winner until the penalty shoot out.
Scores was 4-4 during the ensuing penalty kicks, with both teams left with each kick. And it was the turn of Liverpool’s Sadio Mane but he missed it to send the tournament favourites, Teranga Lions out of the tournament.
Senegal’s Sadio Mane crucially missed Senegal’s last penalty in the shoot-out, allowing Cameroon will stay in Franceville for a semifinal tie on Thursday against either DR Congo or Ghana, who meet today in Oyem.
