Atletico Madrid have seen their summer plans go up in smoke after the Spanish club had their transfer ban upheld by the Court of Arbritation for Sports.

News outlets in Spain reported the decision on Thursday morning, which will see Diego Simeone unable to register any new players for his squad until January 2018.

The decision will force Atleti to do all they can to hold on to their current crop of stars, meaning Manchester United’s potential move for Antoine Griezmann is now in serious doubt.
