From Jeff Amechi Agbodo, Onitsha

Campaign for Democracy (CD) has condemned the brutal killing of The Sun Sales Representative in Onitsha, Anambra State, Fabian Obi.

CD urged the state government to provide financial support for late Obi’s widow, which would, at least, help his surviving children continue with their education.

In a statement signed by CD National Publicity Secretary, Dede Uzor, the group said it would not fold its arms and watch Anambra citizens murdered on a daily basis.

“We demand that the Commissioner of Police embark on immediate overhaul of the rank and file, especially at Okpoko and Onitsha Central Police Station (CPS) and that strict and serious monitoring should be placed on all motorcycles in Onitsha, especially enforcing a ban in line with the Anambra State House of Assembly Act, which restricts motorcycles plying some Trunk A and Trunk B roads.

“Most of these criminals operate within the hours of 9:00am till 6:00pm, hence, Fegge section of Onitsha should be no-go-area for them, immediately it is 7:00pm, due to the proactive disposition of the division…”
