The celebrity world will storm Abuja, on October 28, for the 2018 edition of the Magic Lens Africa Film Academy Award (MAFAA).

The event is billed to hold at the NAF Conference Centre,  Abuja.

The event distinguishes outstanding Africans; who have contributed immensely to the growth of Nollywood. This year’s show will attract dignitaries from different parts of the world.

Among those to be honoured at the event included Abuja socialite and philanthropist, Henry Coco-Bassey; Former National Security Adviser of Late General Sani Abacha, Hamza Al-Mustapha; Top Nigerian United Kingdom based movie producer cum actress, red carpet queen Florence Blaster Okonkwo; Real Estate and hospitality mogul, Qunicy Peter Okoukoni; Hon. Uchenna Festus.

According to CEO Magic Lens Pictures Limited, organisers of the prestigious Magic Lens Africa Film Academy Award, Charles Awurum, said that it is imperative to celebrate men and women in Africa who have sponsored the movie industry without asking for returns.

He also noted that funding has been the major challenge facing movies production in Africa. So, they embarked on a mission to discover supportive individuals to celebrate them in Nigeria.

Awurum further stressed that “To reinvigorate the movie industry we need government support and individuals to assist Nollywood.”

Among the few selected individuals includes Mr & Mrs. Chidi Simon; Ibinabo Fiberesima Loveth Ebede (USA); Precious Atanga (Cameroon); Andy Best (Cameroon, USA);  Leemon Ikpea, Best Davis and Patrick Ottor.

According to Awurum, Mr. Henry Coco-Bassey and other recipients are to be honoured with the awards to recognise their continuous commitment and outstanding support to the movie industry in Africa.
