The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ogun State Command yesterday rescued a nine year old boy at Ajibawo Village along Atan-Ota in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The boy identified as Korede Taiwo was accused by his step mother, Mrs. Kehinde, of stealing meat from her cooking pot. She was said to have reported the matter to her husband who bound the boy in chains in both hands and legs.

According to the information from officer in charge of Ado-Odo NSCDC Division who led the rescue operation after a tip-off, the boy who looked pale and tired when the rescue team arrived at the scene was said to have been chained for two weeks at the premises of Celestial Church of Christ (Key of Joy Parish).

Sunday Sun gathered that on getting to the church, the rescue team met stiff resistance from members led by the pastor’s wife, Kehinde.

The boy who was said to be bound in padlocked chain was rushed to NSCDC office for necessary entries and documentations before he was taken to General Hospital, Ota.

Meanwhile, the NSCDC has since handed the matter over to the police at Atan for further investigation.

When contacted, the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, CSC Kareem Olanrewaju confirmed the incident. According to him, the stepmother has been handed over to the police along with the chains and padlock with which the boy was bound.

Kareem pointed out that the case was handed over to the police because it does not fall within the mandate of the NSCDC.

He noted further that in the course of the resistance put up by the step mother and others in the church, the father, Mr. Taiwo, who is also the pastor of the church, escaped.
