Eight finalists comprising four men and four women emerged Wednesday at the ongoing Chamberlain Squash Open (CSO) taking place at the Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, Lagos.
This was as the tournament number two seed, Mark Broekman, a Briton, narrowly crashed out after he suffered an initial loss to his Nigerian opponent Abel Shedrack.
The Briton, who ranks 169 on the Professional Squash Association world ranking later picked himself up and eventually won his opponent 11-7, 11-6, 11-6, 11-7.
Broekman had to dig deep before overcoming the youthful, Shedrack who booked his place in the main draw on Monday.                                        Meanwhile, the eight quarter finalists emerged 16 players comprising eight males and eight females crashed out of the competition.
The final games in the main draws were decided on Wednesday from where the quarter finalists emerged.
The men qualifiers are Tom Ford, Abdulrahman Lanre, Femi Shedara, Adegoke Onaopemipo,Babatunde Ajagbe, Sodiq Taiwo , Gabriel Olufunmilayo and Mark Broekman.
In the women category, Yemisi Olatunji, Okikiola Dunni, Kafayat Idris, Rofiat Abdulazeez, Udeme James, Veronica Sunday ,Adebisi Adeleke and Longdi Dasbak qualified.
In the final analysis, Tom Ford wonTittah Jamah 11-5, 11-5, 11-1; while Lanre Abdulrahman thrashed Idowu Enimakure Lanre 11-7, 10-12, 12-10, 11-8.
