The Edo North BOOT Party Senatorial Candidate in the forthcoming elections, Mr. Osiriame Edeipo yesterday, said that the redesigning of the naira notes was to strangulate those just venturing into Nigerian politics.
He disclosed this while sharing his thoughts on the happenings in the Nigerian polity.
Mr. Edeipo said the changing of the currency was also to further impoverished the electorate adding that this might make the electorate fall cheaply into the hands of politicians who may want to buy their votes.
“I am talking as a political candidate. It is just a gimmick by the ruling party or by the people at the top to make sure that they starve everybody of money.
“Number one, starve candidates that are not in their platform money to campaign.
“Number two, to make sure that the electorate are terribly hungry so that whatever you see, with joy and gladness, you will collect it.
“So, for me, they said some time ago, that the policy is to checkmate the rich men.
” I tell you that all the rich men that stole the money, they do not have one kobo in their houses again.
“They have long called their bank managers to come to their houses to come and have the money and put them in their banks.
” So, all these ones they are saying is just a gimmick.
“It is the poor man on the street that is feeling the brunt”, he said.
While stating some of the things he intend to do should he emerged victorious at the poll, he said “I will ensure that at least two solid, functional and affordable hospitals are built in Etsako and Owan/Akoko Edo axis of Edo North Senatorial district in order to provide quality health care for our people”.
He said he did not believe in running down any political candidates just because he needed power but that he believes in issues based campaign, stressing that he is in politics to change its narratives.
