The Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese in Imo State, Most Rev Augustine Ukwuoma, has enjoined Christians to be encouraged by the hope that they will die with Christ and rise with Him.
The cleric made the plea in a condolence message he sent to the family of Very Rev Fr Joseph Udechukwu, Rector, Custos Ecclesiae Seminary, Uzii, Ideato North, Imo State and Vocations Director, Catholic Diocese of Orlu, following his mother’s death and burial.
Lady Pauline Nworlu Udechuckwu, 80, will be buried on October 13, 2022 at Umudurunguma, Isiokwu, Ihioma, Orlu, Imo State, after a pontifical concelebrated Mass by Bishop Ukwuoma at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Ihioma, Orlu.
In his message, the prelate enjoined Christians and the Udechukwu family to ensure that they “spend their time, talent and resources in the service of God and humanity.”
While extolling the qualities of the deceased, he recalled that her “faith and unequal commitment to God and humanity are evidence of her support and encouragement to you, her son, towards embracing the sacred priesthood.”
The cleric expressed confidence that the matriarch “fought the good fight and upheld the faith,” and prayed for the “reward of that is due to those whose faith and generosity to God have found unflinching support for His Church and His world.”
He further prayed that “our faith in the resurrection (will) be a consolation to the entire Udechukwu family members, and may God remain your strong support at this time and always.”
