Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) said he could have graduated in University of Nigeria Nsukka if not because of outbreak of civil war.
Adeboye disclosed this in Nsukka on Tuesday after being conferred with doctorate of Divinity honorary degree he said he gained admission in UNN in 1963 and matriculation number was 1800,
“Its the order of then Eastern governor Chief Odumgwu Ojukwu that non igbos should leave he east that was why I finished at University of Ibandan
” I am happy today a governor of Enugu state accompany me today to UNN while then eastern governor send me packing because of civil war that is God for you
“I am happy that first degree I missed in UNN have been replaced with honorary doctorate degree
“I thank UNN for finding me worthy for this award.
He urged people who have not given their life to Jesus Christ to that as life is meaningless without Christ.
“Please if you have not given your life to Christ no longer waste time do it immediately as you come to the prayer rally am holding in this university after this award,” he said.
In a remark the Vice-chancellor of UNN Prof Benjamin Ozumba said the university created the special convocation to reward excellence which had become the major characteristic of the university under my watch.
“This is award is to an alumni of UNN in the department of mathematics until 1966.
“Today special convocation is to reward excellence to man who through the annoniting of Jesus has imparted much to humanity.
“Adeboye is man whose accompolishment speaks more eloquently and reverberate more clearly than the voice of orator,” he said.
Ozumba said Adeboye was conferred honorary because of his immense contributions to mankind especially christanity.
Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state was among dignitaries present during the special honorary convocation for Adeboye. Adeboye was conferred with honorary doctorate degree of Divinity
