The day will remain indelible in the minds of members of Careful Life Transformation Church, Mowo-Badagry, Lagos, as some of their ministers were ordained to handle the mantle of the church. Those ordained included the general overseer, Apostle Victor Dickson Udo, Pastor Idy Uniosew, Ruth Udoh and Esther Akpan.
According to the general overseer, his ordination was a renewal of sorts because, when a minister is anointed for service initially and he realises that he is no longer functioning as expected and is weak, it is proper to go for renewal.
During the Sunday school, Uniosew taught the members about anointing: anointing with oil, laying of hands by a superior and assigning of assignment.
He defined anointing as the empowering of a minister to do more service for God. He gave an instance of David whom Samuel anointed to become king of Israel and this assisted him during his reign. He was able to defeat Goliath also; he emphasised that it is something every Christian should have for service.
He said: “It breaks long standing yokes; it promotes and lifts you higher than your contemporaries in life. Sometimes when you are not qualified for a thing, God does it through that anointing. So there is need for ministers to be anointed.”
When Udo, the general overseer of the church, was asked what formed the ordination, he gave an example with an engine. He said: “There is a time you need to service the engine so that it will serve you better. Therefore, there is need for renewal for effectiveness in the work. In a pastoral job, there is a time you will look dry and you need to refill your engine.”
He also lamented some of the things happening in the nation today. He said: “Pastors have become contractors to the government and they don’t have the power to call these leaders to order when they go wrong. The people that have the chance to rebuke them do not have the chance of being there.”
He said that any man of God who rebukes them, they want to silence that person.
“Such brings curses to the nation. They should accept what is being said to them and move in the right direction,” he said.
