The Managing Director Lekki Gardens,Mr Richard Nyong has been nabbed by the Police over the Lagos building collapse that claimed over 30 lives.

Mr Nyong, 34, was picked yesterday by the Maroko Police Division.

A five story building had on Tuesday ,collapsed, killing over 30 persons at Chisco Bus-Stop,Lekki.

The lagos State Police Command on Wednesday arrested one of the contractors, Taiwo Odofin and began manhunt for other persons indicted by construction workers who claimed they told the management of Lekki Garden, builders of the collapsed house some structural defects in the building.

One of the workers had told the Police that, ” We the workers, told the management of Lekki Gardens about the structural defects, but we were instructed to go ahead with the job and double pile the beams. The defects would have been corrected and the tragedy would have been averted”

Following the confession, the state Commissioner Of Police,Mr Fatai Owoseni ordered the MD to report to the nearest Police station of he would be declared wanted.

Daily Sun gathered that the MD submitted himself to the Maroko Police station where he was detained before he was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID)Panti for fear of possible attack by bereaved families who lost their people in the collapsed building.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) Dolapo Badmos confirmed that he has been arrested,”Yes,MD Lekki Gardens,Mr Richard Nyong of 167,Kushenla Road,Ikate, Elegushi has been arrested in connection with the building collapse. He will soon be charged to the court”
