The military community in Ibadan, Oyo State capital was yesterday thrown into mourning following the assassination of the Commandant of Command Secondary School, Ibadan, Col. Anthony Okeyim. The killing occurred just three weeks after his promotion.
His body was  found in cold blood at his apartment inside the school premises, Apata, Ibadan.
Some of those who were close to the deceased said he was strangled to death by suspected assassins after he was attacked in front of his official quarters.
A source in the command  also claimed that Col. Okeyim’s throat was slit open by his killers, who dumped his body in front of his house.
When contacted, the police command’s spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu, said the police were treating it as a suspected case of murder.
His words: “I can confirm to you that the deceased was found dead in front of his apartment around 6.30am yesterday. We are treating it as a case of suspected murder.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi, visited the school immediately the case was reported. Police investigation had begun and the investigating team is working with military police investigating team. We have also beefed up security around the area,” he said.
