The Congress of University Academics (CONUA), Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma chapter, yesterday, expressed readiness to work with the newly appointed acting Vice Chancellor to the institution, Prof. Osarhieme Osadolor, saying he would take it to its enviable height which it has attained over the years.

This was contained in a press statement titled “Congress of University Academics (CONUA) AAU Ekpoma welcomes new acting Vice Chancellor”, signed by its chairman, Dr. Iyawe Hanson and its Secretary, Dr. Nwoke Ernest, made available to newsmen in Benin City.

Dr. Hanson  said the appointment of the acting Vice Chancellor by the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki to oversee the running of the institution was timely as it stands to stem the current crisis rocking it.

“The members of the Congress of University Academics, (CONUA), Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma chapter, heartily welcome the appointment of Prof. Osarhieme Osadolor as the acting Vice Chancellor of the university.

“We state that his appointment could not have come at a better time especially on the cusp of the determination of the governor of the state to reposition the university and further the frontiers of innovative scholarship and academic excellence.

“We are profoundly appreciative of the quick intervention of His Excellency, the governor in congruent with our earlier plea to him”, he said.

Hanson, while thanking the out-gone Vice Chancellor, Prof. I. A. Onimawo for his numerous contributions to the growth of the institution, said he has no doubt in his mind that the new acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Osadolor would put his wealth of experiences to bear in repositioning the university.

“We also wish to use this medium to register our debt of gratitude to the out-gone digital Vice Chancellor, Prof. I. A. Onimawo for all the good work he did throughout his epochal tenure especially his imperishable legacies at transforming our university to a modern citadel of learning.

“We congratulate our new VC on his appointment and like to reiterate that members of our union are not on strike.

“We have been teaching our students in continuation of the second semester, 2019/2020 academic session.

“We at CONUA express our confidence that having regard to the robust intellectual and administrative pedigree of the new acting Vice Chancellor, our university will no doubt witness an upsurge in infrastructural and intellectual development as well as improved workers welfare

“We hereby extend our hand of fellowship and cooperation to our new Vice Chancellor as he comes on board and wish him a successful stint at the helm”, he added.
