A Katsina senior magistrate court, presided by Hajiya Fadile Dikko, has ordered the remand of a 29-year-old man, Abdul Rasheed Suleiman, in prison custody over allegation of having anal sex with an eight-year-old boy.

The accused, who hails from Unguwar Tofa village of  Bakori Local Government Area of the state, allegedly committed the offence on July 11, in an uncompleted building in the that area.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR) number KT/988X/17, the accused lured the victim into the uncompleted building in his area and forcefully had sexual intercourse with him through anus contrary to section 284 of Penal Code law.

The Magistrate said she would not take the plea of the accused because, “allegation of unnatural offence is only triable by the High Court.”

She said that a  copy of the case file would be sent to the Ministry of Justice for legal advice.

“You are before this court for cognisance purpose,” Dikko said and adjourned the case to October 13 while directing the police to remand him in prison custody.

In a separate case on Monday, the court also ordered the remand of a 20 years old man , Lukuman Badamosi, till August 30, 2017 for allegedly being in  possession of cannabis sativa popularly referred to as Indian Hemp.

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had dragged the accused to court over the allegation.
