An FCT High Court will deliver judgment in a case of fraud filed by the EFCC against one Steven Iyang in a date to be communicated to the parties.

The Judge, Justice Umar Sadiq, announced this, on Wednesday, when the parties adopted all their written addresses.

Prosecuting Counsel, Mr Afolabi Mimiko, while adopting his final written address, urged the court to convict and sentence the defendant, Mr Steven Iyang, accordingly.

The Counsel to the defendant, Mr. Chima Nwuche, prayed the court to discharge and acquit the defendant.

The defendant, Mr Steven Iyang, is being tried for a charge bordering on alleged extortion of cash worth of N10 million from Mrs Esther Udoh.

Iyang was said to have claimed to be working with a micro-finance bank when he approached Mrs Udoh for patronage.

Udo was not suspicious of the fraudulent intents of Iyang who later diverted the money to his personal account between January 2010 and June 2012.

Udoh is trader who is always travelling out of Nigeria for her business thereby relied much on the defendant.

According to the prosecution, parts of the money were paid into the defendant’s account in foreign currencies on trust. (NAN)
