All Progressives Congress (APC), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Cross River have rejected the results of the state’s central senatorial district election, held last Saturday.

While APC is contesting the credibility of the elections, due to the failure of card readers, the SDP is protesting the exclusion of the party’s logo on the ballot papers.

SDP’s logo (Horse) was conspicuously missing from the central senatorial ballot papers distributed across the various polling units of six councils that make up the district.

Checks by Daily Sun revealed even when the party had raised the alarm over the missing logo, INEC officials could not rectify it and, rather, went ahead to conduct the election, thereby, denying SDP’s candidate and disenfranchising the supporters.

The returning officer for central senatorial district, Prof. Enyong Ubana, had announced that Prof. Sandy Onor (PDP) polled 80,126 to defeat Senator Ndoma Egba, who scored 60,298.

Rejecting the results, the SPD’s senatorial candidate for the zone,  Solomon Esor, expressed shock that after INEC had cleared him to contest and he went through electioneering, the party’s logo was still omitted at the National Assembly (Senate) ballot papers.
