THE All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State in the 2015 general elections, Dr Dakuku Peterside has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the conduct of the re-run elections in the state despite the “challenging situations.”
Peterside also accused Governor Nyesom Wike of   engaging in propaganda as a tool to save the PDP from defeat.
He noted that Wike embarked on all manners of propaganda and blackmail against leaders of the APC, security agencies and INEC during the campaigns.
The NIMASA   boss expressed displeasure over the way and manner “known sympathisers” of PDP and government officials   were spreading falsehood and publishing fake election results, both in the traditional and social media.
He said:  “Rivers people are tired of Wike and his PDP propaganda, which defies all forms of civility and sense of decorum. The Governor has made all manner of cries and wailing in an attempt to be seen as the victim to attract sympathy even as he is busy hatching evil plans by the day.
“He is only crying because all his plans have been checkmated by the presence of security agencies and determination of Rivers people to reject him because of his deceit.”
Peterside called on Rivers people to ignore results being circulated in the social media.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has described the re-run election in Rivers as successful.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Elder Aniedi Ikowak, said the election had 75 per cent credibility.
But the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples PDP has called for the cancellation of the elections in Khana LGA of the state.
The party alleged that the exercise was marred by irregularities and violence orchestrated by the APC against members of   PDP in the LGA.
A statement by the chairman of the party, Chief Felix Obuah, signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, said reports from all the polling units in Khana LGA justified the call for the cancellation, alleging that APC chieftains in Khana LGA hijacked electoral materials.
