President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said his Foundation has invested a whopping N7 billion for job creation in the Northeast states.

Dangote said the foundation invested the amount to create employment and end hunger in the Northeast states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe affected by insurgency as well as Taraba State bedevilled with herders crisis.

He said the foundation spent up to N2 billion in Borno State alone, for the construction of 200 housing units to those displaced by Boko Haram attacks, adding that the foundation has been providing food items to people in the area since 2012.

“Since 2012, Dangote Foundation has been supporting the North East, particularly Borno, and has spent about N7 billion as part of efforts to ameliorate the sufferings of IDPs,” he said.

He assured that the foundation will continue to work with the state government and humanitarian organisations to ensure that IDPs are finally resettled to their communities with dignity.
Meanwhile, Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, has described Dangote as the symbol of Borno and a highest gift to Africa.

The governor said Dangote Foundation is the only Nigerian organisation that gave the highest donation in support of the humanitarian situation in Borno and Northeast.

“I am so glad that with this support and construction of this village for our IDPs, Dangote will now serve as permanent symbol in the state,” he said.

The 200-housing-unit Dangote Estate located at the outskirts of Maiduguri, which has a school and clinic, was a joint effort by Dangote Foundation and Borno government.
