Nigeria and Benin Republic will do battle on Friday in a tie which will determine who finishes top of Pool A of Africa Zone Group III of the Davis Cup after both maintained their winning streaks.

Group III TOP seeds Benin overcame Rwanda 3-0 on the clay court of the Nairobi Club in Kenya to usurp Nigeria, who beats Cameroon 2-1, and hit the pool’s submit. Both teams have also won and lost the same number of rubbers.

Benin were commanding victors against Rwanda as Delmas N’tcha beats Etienne Niyigena 7-5, 6-3 and Alexis Klegou dispatched Ernest Habiyambere in the single, before Klegou teamed up with Felix Hounkpevi to win the doubles.

Nigeria were made to work a little harder against Cameroon as Sylvester Emmanuel’s 6-4, 6-4 singles win over Etienne Teboh was cancelled out by Blasie Nkwenti’s 6-2, 6-1 victory over Joseph Imeh Ubon.

The tie was ultimately determined by the doubles rubber and Emmaneul’ and Uboh joined forces to dismiss Nkwenti and Cedric Wouobong Ngoumtsa in three sets, 4-6, 7-6(7), 6-4.
