UK-based Nigerian author and poet, Tolu A. Akinyemi, has concluded work on yet another masterpiece, Dead Cats Don’t Meow, his fourth book. The poetry volume will hit the shelves in Nigeria and all over the world in April, 2019.
Described as “a writer with exceptional talent” by the Arts Council of England, Akinyemi’s other books include Dead Lions Don’t Roar, Unravel Your Hidden Gems, and Dead Dogs Don’t Bark.
The book release will be accompanied by a tour, comprising four exciting events in the United Kingdom and Nigeria. The tour kicks off on April 4, 2019, at The Poetry Café, Covent Garden, London, where Akinyemi will be performing his new poetry collection.
On April 13, the tour moves to MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, and on May 2, the book reading train will berth at The Lit & Phil in Newcastle, while finally anchoring at The Avenue Library, Manchester on May 9, 2019.
Dead Cats Don’t Meow is a metrical masterpiece, which invokes love and respect for life with every word. Each poem examines a part of life, a sensation, a reaction or an emotion. Beautifully written, the verses individually breathe their own beat, while the collection knits together perfectly to present an idyllic anthology.
Speaking on the new book, Akinyemi told Daily Sun, “Dead Cats Don’t Meow bears similar ethos to the cantos in my poetry compendiums for us not to waste the life we have been given. It inspires us not to waste the ninth life, to be the very best we can, to love ourselves, to invest and to give as much as we can to those who matter.
“My books are based on modern day issues, and don’t shy away from the nitty-gritty, including mental health, daily struggles and relationships, leaving the readers with a sense of wellbeing and motivation. I am delighted to launch Dead Cats Don’t Meow and hope my readers enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it!”
A creative thinker and prolific writer, Akinyemi shares his gift of writing with people far and wide, mentoring, hosting workshops and performing at private and corporate events across the UK and around the world. Over the last few years, the talented and generous author has been using the sales of his book to raise funds for three charities: Age UK Northumberland, Equal Arts, and Chronicle Sunshine Fund.
Dead Cats Don’t Meow is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Waterstones, eBay, Roving Heights, Okadabooks, and Patabah Books. However, interested buyers can also book their copies directly from the author at www.tolutoludo.com as from April.
