The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of forging and publishing the signatures and photographs of its ward executives in Nsit Atai Local Government Area of the state, claiming they had defected to APC.

Some political leaders in the local government area, led by Chief Sunny Elijah, his wife, Sarah and some former local government chairmen had recently defected to the APC and were received by the
state chairman of the party, Mr. Ini Okopido, alongside Senator Godswill Akpabio and other party officials.

Also, said to have defected were 40 serving ward executive members of the PDP from all the 10 wards in the local government area.

But, addressing newsmen yesterday, Commissioner for Housing, Otuekong Raphael Bassey, who is a political leader of the area, put a lie to the claim and said the APC was embarking on a fraudulent adventure by forging and publishing the signatures and photographs of PDP ward executives claiming they had defected to APC.

“We want to place it on record that the purported resignations of PDP ward executives in Nsit Atai is falsehood taken too far.

The resignation letters published on social media and other media platforms were all fake and forged by Sunny Elijah in his desperate bid to justify the money he collected from APC to do their biddings.

“We want to place on record that before and after the so-called defection of Elijah and his co-political harlots till date, no single PDP ward executive/chapter executive member had defected to APC.

What transpired was a return to APC of the same political harlots, led by Elijah, who defected to the PDP few months ago, Otuekong Bassey said Elijah’s group were in the PDP on assignment, to steal and destroy the party, but had to return to APC because they could not succeed in their assignment of hijacking the the PDP’s structure, to eventually destroy the party.

“We wish to emphasise that the exit of Elijah and his few political jobbers has not, in any way, affected the PDP in Nsit Atai, as all the structures are intact, and we are not worried, in any way, by their political propaganda because  there is no other party in Nsit Atai, apart from PDP.

“They have no capacity to win election in any of the 10 wards in Nsit Atai, just as they could not win in 2015,” Bassey said.

To prove the ward executives of the party were intact, the commissioner and other party elders from the area invited the wards’ executives and others claimed to have defected and paraded them for
confirmation.
