The Delta State School Sports Festival organised for primary and secondary schools in the state has been postponed indefinitely.
This was due to the destruction of the scoreboard and some parts of the Stephen Keshi Stadium by wind on Tuesday.
Sadly, about 1,500 athletes from public and private primary and secondary school expected to feature were already at their NYSC camp, Issele Uku before the incident occurred.
After a meeting, the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the organisers noted that the logistics of taking the athletes elsewhere was hug and hence, the need to postpone the competition originally billed to end today.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chiedu Ebie had however, assured that a new date would be announced soon.
He noted that Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa was committed to the development of young athletes in the state across all sports.
