Plateau State citizens have been urged to demand a premium health insurance scheme for the Plateau State Contributory HealthCare Management Agency (PLASCHEMA) from the National and State Assembly representatives.

The Director-General PLASCHEMA, Dr Fabong Jemchang Yildam, made the call on Friday during an interface with the media on securing community sustainability, the media experience in Jos, Plateau State.

He explained that the Agency has embarked on an aggressive sensitisation campaign for all state and National Assembly members with a view to buying premiums for the health insurance scheme for indigent members of their communities.

Dr Yildam said the gesture will help in addressing a lot of diseases ravaging rural communities thereby achieving universal health coverage.

‘We have taken the campaign to our legislators at the National and State Assembly, Commissioners, head of parastatals and philanthropists to key into the idea of supporting their constituents with premium for the health insurance scheme to address illnesses and diseases in various communities in the state,’ he stated.

He expressed gratitude to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Idris Wase, Mr. Sunday Biggs and Dr. Patrick Dakum and called on others to key in to help the vulnerable persons.

He noted that effort is on to ensure that community members key into the insurance scheme to enable them benefits from the scheme maximally.

Dr Yildam assured those who have keyed in for maximum and efficient service and urged them to report to the agency when there is inefficient services.

Head of Communications for Development Unit Zakiyah Usman Zummunta appreciated the media for propagating activities of the Agency and them to continue to do that in the interest of the society.

He expressed desire for PLASCHEMA to partner with Journalists to strengthen service delivery and get more members of the society key into the health insurance for the good of common man.
