CHAIRMAN of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Peace and Reconciliation Committee and Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson yesterday, held a crucial meeting with the party’s leadership cutting across the feud­ing factions of the party in Imo State at the Bayelsa State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, in Abuja.
In a communiqué signed after several hours of delibera­tions, the warring factions resolved to unite and join forces to strengthen the party and ensure the victory of the party in all elections beginning with the March 19 rerun in Imo North senatorial district.
Promising to be loyal to the national chairman, National Working Committee and the National Executive Commit­tee of the party, the leaders also resolved to cooperate with the national leadership to conduct the forth-coming con­gresses in a free and fair manner in line with the party’s constitution. The meeting also resolved to hold an all-inclusive leadership meeting of the party in Owerri, Imo State under the chairmanship of Governor Dickson.
Two former governors of the state, Chiefs Achike Ud­enwa and Ikedi Ohakim, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Emeka Ihedioha, Amb, signed the communiqué, Dr. Kema Chik­we, Senator Chris Anyanwu, among others.
Following the resolve of the National Working Commit­tee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to unite its membership and strengthen the party across the country, National Chairman, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff on March 8, set up a peace and reconciliation committee headed by the Dickson.
