Rachel Oluwabukola Martins, otherwise known as DJ Dimple Nipple has emerged victorious as the “DJ of the Year (Female Category)” at the 2020 City People Award.
The Lagos-born, Lagos-bred DJ defeated four other DJs to emerge the winner. DJ Lexaah, DJ Barbie, DJ Brokee Bailey and DJ such all succumbed to the superiority of DJ Dimple Nipple.
DJ Dimple Nipple who was groomed by DJ Kaywise and DJ Kenzy, has carved a niche for herself as a woman of steel on the wheel of steel, leveraging on her dancing skill to give a whole new, refreshingly different craft on her wheel.
“I’m the best DJ in Nigeria and that’s period because nobody is badder than me. What makes me stand out is me. My vibe is different. You got to love my mix and my song selections, I have great taste for good music. I don’t just DJ , I dance while DJing, which no DJ in Africa does” she had once boasted in an interview.
DJ Dimple Nipple built her world of disc jockeying from 2019 and her career took a flight when she was invited to come play at the Crossroad Lounge in Eko Hotel alongside DJ Kaywise and DJ Exclusive.
She began her career as a professional dancer at the age of 17 who danced at every top notch nightclub in Lagos. She was a regular feature at The G12 Beach and DNA nightclubs where she was the official dancer.
At G12 Beach DJ Dimple Nipple caught the attention of Wizkid and Tiwa Savage. And both appreciated her dancing skills by posting her on their respective Instagram Story and Snapchat.
In fact, it was through Tiwa Savage posting of her dancing videos that Funke Akindele fell in love with her and cast her in her popular YouTube series “House Helps”. DJ Dimple Nipple would go on to make a career as an actress on account of her dancing exploits.
She may not have a cheery story to tell of her life as a video vixen but she sure left her footprints on that landscape, having featured “Give me Love” by Skales featuring Tekno; Motigbana video by Olamide; Forkanizer video by Skuki and Omo video by Burna Boy among others.
