The Benue State Government has cautioned its citizens against indulging in any form of criminal acts.

It warned that anyone caught engaging in nefarious acts would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

In a statement signed by Commissioner of Information and Orientation, Lawrence Onoja (Jr) and made available to Daily Sun, the state government expressed dismay over a security report that the military sent to the state to curb the incessant attacks by suspected herdsmen on Benue citizens have apprehended two Benue youths with arms.

“In view of the above, the government of Benue state condemns any act of criminality in any guise cautioning all Benue citizens to remain law abiding and have faith in the security  operatives to discharge their duties diligently.

“Government also wishes to remind citizens on its resolve to continue to ensure peace in the state and with its neighbours hence the introduction and implementation of amnesty programme which has yielded positive results.

“The government warns that any citizen of the state caught perpetrating any act of criminality will face the full wrath of the law without any interference from any quarters,” Onoja stated.

Onoja also lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for sending 1,000 additional troops to the state to help fight against suspected armed herders who have been attacking the defenseless citizens of the state.

He expressed the hope that with the additional troops who are already in the state, peace would soon return in the affected areas of the state.
