The Catholic Bishop of Bauchi Diocese, Hillary Nanman Dachelem, has advised President Muhamadu Buhari not to take the mandate given to him by Nigerians for granted, following his victory in the just concluded presidential election.

Speaking with newsmen, yesterday, in Bauchi, on the sideline of Ash Wednesday, the bishop said there is need for Nigerians to thank God for the emergence of Buhari.

While urging faithful to fast and pray for  peace, unity and stability of the country during the Lenten period, he also admonished Nigerians to accept the will of God and co-operate with the president, to move the country forward.

“We should all cooperate with him and move on, because he is not going to be there forever. On his part, in spite  of his shortcomings, too, God has brought him back, probably to correct some of the errors he might have made in his first tenure. He should thank God for his victory, but he should not take it for granted.”

On the just-concluded presidential and national assembly election, the bishop expressed gratitude to God for what he observed as the generally peaceful conduct of the exercise.

He advised politicians and their supporters against engaging in politics of do-or-die.
