The Eze Ndigbo Ghana, HRM Eze Dr Amb. Chkwudi Jude Ihenetu has called on the governments of Nigeria and Ghana to sheath their sword over impending diplomatic  face-off resulting from demolition of a building in Nigeria’s High Commission compound in Ghana.

In a statement, the royal father said Nigeria and Ghana over the years had robust bilatral relations which covers trade and comerce adding that those relations was further solidified when both country fought side-by-side to win independence with Gahana attaining independence in 1957 and Nigeria 3 years later in 1960.

While commending both countries for agreeing to find solution to the problem through dialogue, Eze Ihenetu recalled that both countries had rich diplomatic conections as Nigeria founding fathers like Nnamdi Azikiwe and Herbert Macaulay schooled in Ghana  and were influenced by Kwame Nkurumah school of thought.

He said economically, Ghana and Nigeria had rich economic relations adding that both countries can build on this existing foundation in order to move the countries foward.

On the border closed between Nigeria and her West Africa neighbours before the outbreak of COVID-19, the royal father urges the Federal Government  to look inward and work out modalties that would lead to reopening of the border so that trade can again flourish in the land.
