Ahead of the February 16 presidential election, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, has cautioned Nigerians not to cast their votes for those he described as ‘thieves’ whose main agenda, he said, was to come back and plunder the country blind.
Osinbajo, who said that the electoral promises of the opposition party are mere lies, reiterated that Nigerians should reject the party and the people who looted the nation’s treasury for 16 years and reelect President Muhammadu Buhari.
The vice president gave the caution, on Monday, while speaking at the Palace of Olota of Ota, Ogun State, in continuation of the Buhari/Osinbajo Presidential Campaign tour.
Osinbajo was accompanied on the tour by the Ogun State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dapo Abiodun, his running mate, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Senators Gbolahan Dada and Akin Odunsi, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Political Matters to the President, Sen. Babafemi Ojudu and a host of others.
Speaking further, Osinbajo decried the low level of development in Aworiland, which is the industrial hub of Nigeria and described the ill-treatment as act of “injustice”.
He promised that all the challenges confronting the Aworiland would be adequately addressed by the APC governorship candidate, if he is elected as governor of Ogun State.
“When I was Lagos State Attorney – General and Commissioner for Justice, all your problems became clear to me and which were not supposed to be.
“We are promising you that we would look into all these problems when we have Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, elected in the forthcoming March 2 election, and the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari/Prof Yemi Osinbajo on February 16”.The VP said.
He, however, appealed to the Olota, Council of Obas in Aworiland and the people of the various communities to cast their votes for all the candidates of the APC in the forthcoming general elections, saying “it is the party that attend to numerous problems bedeviling the country”.
On various problems confronting the country, resulting into the low level of development, Osinbajo attributed them to corruption.
“It is not that we don’t have budgetary allocations for all projects, but the problem we have is corruption.
“If you look at our budgets in the last ten years, the government had made provisions for them. For instance, Lagos/Ibadan road and Lagos/Kano railway projects were awarded ten years ago and yet, nothing were done. The contractors that handled them, collected money and did nothing.
“So, let us cast our votes for Buhari for re-election. Even enemies of President Muhammadu Buhari know that he is not corrupt.
“Don’t elect thieves to come and plunder the economy of the country again. Because their electoral promises are lies and all they intend to do again is to come back and ruin the economy”, Osinbajo submitted.
In his own remarks, Abiodun promised to live up to expectations with his electoral promises, if he is elected.

He said he was sad to see the deplorable conditions of roads in the community which is a host community for multi-national companies that generate a substantial amount in internal revenue to the coffers of the state government.
Earlier, the Olota of Ota, Oba Abdul Kabir Obalanlege, drew the attention of Osinbajo to the ill-treatment being meted out to the Aworiland, particularly the division caused by past administrations.
“Aworiland is accommodating. And we are in both Lagos and Ogun states. I want to seize this occasion to tell you that we have been relegated and which should not be.
“We have massive votes in Aworiland and which ought to translate to political power but rather, we have been marginalised. We are neither Yewa nor Egba.
“Funnily enough, we have been merged with Yewa and Egba traditional councils. Now, we are like the Biblical Israelites without route. Please, help us to look into this issue” the monarch said
