Ahead of the February 16 presidential election, the leadership of Buhari Support Group in Ebonyi State, has commenced house-to-house voter education campaigns in various communities .

The move, it said is to educate the electorate on the guidelines adopted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the poll. It said the exercise became necessary to ensure  there would be no invalid votes meant for the party, to boost its success at the poll.

To this effect, the group, at the weekend, trained its members, who would subsequently move into the hinterlands and educate the voters on how to thumb print on the ballot papers.

Members of the group, drawn from the 171 wards in the state, were charged to identify eligible voters and educate them before the election day coming up on Saturday.

At the training in Abakaliki, the state capital, the Nigeria’s Ambassador to Argentina, Mr. Jonah Mkpuruka, challenged the support group to ensure that the electorate at the grassroots are properly informed, as the party cannot afford to lose any election because of invalid votes.

“One reason APC must win all the elections, both at federal and state levels, is because the masses don’t need eye glasses to see that the present administration has done well,” he said.

He said nobody would intimidate APC supporters on the election day, as the federal government has made necessary security provisions for the country. The group’s coordinator in the state, Chief Austin Edeze, said the training was for them to train others at  the ward level because of the cumbersome nature of the 2019 ballot paper.
