The harsh economic climate in the country, which has brought untold hardship to the Nigerian populace, will persist till the middle of 2017.
One of the country’s prophetic voices, Prophet Collins Timothy, made the declaration recently on the sidelines of the 2016 Women Convention of his church, Olive Mountain of Prayer and Praise Ministries in Ijegun, Ikotun, Lagos.
The prophet said the unfair attitude of the masses, who were in the habit of hiking the prices of things indiscriminately at the slightest excuse, was worsening the situation.
The minister stated: “You see people increasing the prices of things indiscriminately. This is the problem we are having. If we can fight against this, the country will be stable. But if not, the hardship is just starting. This situation is going to run like this till June 2017.
“I had earlier given a prediction that there was going to be hardship, that things were going to be so tough, that people would begin to gnash their teeth. That was last year and I said all these would manifest this year and that because of hardship, there was going to be an increase in crime. That is what is happening but in a short time, it is going to be over and the only way it can be over is if we conduct ourselves in a godly manner.”
But to end the crisis, the prophet called for concerted prayers by believers in Christ, especially the ministers of God. He noted: “If they can gather all the ministers, both young and old, not regarding position or who you are, and we join hands to pray, God is going to put peace in this nation.”
He also spoke on the programme, entitled: ‘The King in Me’. Prophet Timothy explained that it was aimed at educating and training women on how to build and manage their homes, how to be fruitful to their husbands, how to be productive and financially independent and to ensure that their families were drawn closer to God. “It’s a time we make them realise that there is no woman that is a waste and that every wife and mother is beautiful.”
He said: “You know, most times, so many women don’t know that their husbands are kings to them the same way they are queens unto their husbands. Once you recognise your husband is a king you must respect him; you must create time to know his affairs and that is what will make you to be a queen unto the king. Any man that realises he is a king should not molest himself outside with other women because a king doesn’t eat anyhow, doesn’t walk anyhow. A king is always disciplined.
“One advice I have for people generally is that any man or woman that really wants to build a good home has to embrace Christ.”
Wife of the General Overseer and Women Leader, Pastor (Mrs.) Rosemary Timothy, said the aim of the programme was to build the women. “We teach them so many things – the fear of God, how to respect and obey their husbands, how to take care of their children, how to be industrious, and how to come closer to God.
“So many women today have lost their homes as a result of disobedience. We’ve been able to make our women understand that our husbands are kings and if there is a king, then there is a queen. If your husband is honoured, then you are honoured too. I’ve made them to understand that if they want to retain their homes, they have to obey their husbands because two captains cannot stay in a ship.”
As a way of curbing domestic violence, Mrs. Timothy urged women to desist from contesting their husbands’ position as heads of the home. She noted: “God did not create the woman to be the head. We were meant to be helpmates. As a woman, you should be in the position God has put you. So many women want to go above the position God has placed them and this is one of the major reasons we have so much domestic violence now. If a woman humbles herself before her husband, he will give her the best of his life.”
